Linemates Artemi Panarin had a goal and four assists and Yevgeni Dadonov a goal and three assists. It was, indeed, pad-the-stats night in Moscow.

The victory moves Russia into second place in Group A with nine points, behind only the Czechs (11). Denmark remains in sixth spot with four points, two ahead of Latvia and Kazakhstan.

The home side wasted no time in asserting themselves, outshooting Denmark 19-2 in the opening period. The scoring started at 2:38, igniting the home crowd. Dadonov fired a pass from the corner to Alexei Marchenko moving into the slot, and he wired a shot over the shoulder of Simon Nielsen.

The Russians then struck or two quick goals midway through the period. Maxim Chudinov fired a slapshot on a power play at 12:45, and then 21 seconds later Nikita Zaitsev capitalized on a turnover and wired a screen shot past Nielsen to make it 3-0.

Denmark got on the board midway through the second period on a hard shot by Jannik Hansen at 9:56, but that only fuelled the Russians to go for more. Sergei Mozyakin got that one back less than a minute later, and they added two more just ten seconds apart soon after.

Mozyakin and Shirokov scored identical goals, cutting in from the left wing and ripping shots over Nielsen’s glove. A splendid three-way passing play capped by a Dadonov finish made it 7-1.

Shipachyov added two quick goals early in the third, bot assisted by Panarin and Dadonov. Panarin then got a power-play goal late in the game to close out the scoring.

"Artemi is a great guy, but he's playing a different style now," said Dadonov. "It's not that he's more aggressive; it's that he sees the ice a bit better now."

Russia has a day off before playing Switzerland on Saturday. The Danes play Latvia tomorrow in a critical match.
