While the World Championship is in full preparation in Russia, the new bus line number 1 with a Worlds-themed trolleybus was launched in St. Petersburg.

On Thursday 50 media representatives in attendance had a tour on the new bus with the symbolic number 1 that drives the “Route of Champions”. They boarded a trolleybus fully branded in the design of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship starting at Ploshad Vosstania and driving to the Sports Palace Yubileiny where the Preliminary Round Group B and two quarter-finals will take place in May.

The bus was presented by the official 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship mascot Laika before speeches from the Committee of Press and Media Relations of the city of St. Petersburg, the Committee of Physical Culture and Sport, the Sports Palace Yubileiny, the Ice Hockey Federation of St. Petersburg, Gorelektrotrans and the local organizer ExpoForum.

During the next three months Worlds-themed buses will drive in the city. The presentation coincided with the launch of a hockey channel on the video screens of the trolleybuses. Only hockey content will be played on these buses with the voice of sports commentators.

The new bus route will run next to the Sportivnaya metro station close to the Sports Palace Yubileiny.
